Interview question : Which language(s) do you usually use in this area?

Shandy: I mostly speak English and a very little bit Putonghua when buying food here. I was quite lucky that they (hawkers) understand me.

Mr Choi, local Thai product shop owner (only the shop is shown)
Mr Choi: Our customers are of many different nationalities, like Japanese, Koreans, Americans or even Indians. But we only spoke a little English since surprisingly many visitors are able to communicate in Chinese.
3.
Ms. Koo, a local clothe-alteration booth owner
Ms. Koo: I meet lots of Filipinos and Thais every day. Most of them can tell what they want with simple Chinese phrases.
4.
Ah Bing, a staff in a local butcher
Ah Bing: English, Cantonese and Putonghua. Sometimes short phrases of Japanese.
5.
Uncle Tong, approached us when we were talking to Ah Bing.
Uncle Tong: Let me tell you, kids. I age 67 but I speak English too. English is important ! You must study it.
